Welcome to our second Fionist quarterly update of 2024. In this post, we’ll get you up to date on what we’ve been up to since the last update and where we stand in terms of reaching the goals we set for ourselves on Rosh Hashana 5784. Feel free to click here to read our past periodic updates.
Personal goals update:
- We celebrated our anniversary with a two-day trip to Tel Aviv. We had a great time and can’t wait to go away again. As we’ve stated previously, making our partner feel appreciated is an on-going goal. It is never something we will be able to permanently check off of our list.
- We’ve been upping our charitable donations, and in particular responding to calls for war-related financial assistance. If you are running a fundraiser for an important cause, please let us know.
- Finn has jumped right back into his photography, especially his little people scenes. Our daughter loves helping him stage new scenes each Friday.

FI goals update:
- In Q2 we saved 36% of our net income. Our total savings rate was 51%. This means that we now put more money into our investments than we spend on our living expenses.🎉
- As of the end of June 2024, we were at 30% of our financial independence number. This was our goal for the year. 🎉
- We earned 718 shekels from surveys and 1,900 shekels in dividends from our investments this quarter. This figure is lower than previous quarters since we no longer receive interest income after the changes we made in our portfolio.
Other noteworthy highlights:
- We all took the week of Pesach off and had a great time going on daytrips. All but one had free admission during chol hamoed.

- We raced our kids and dog down to the bomb shelter while the air raid siren wailed at 1:45 am the night of the Iranian attack on Israel. That was…. weird.
- We went on one BuyMe breakfast date on our last Friday morning of the school year.
- School’s out for summer! We now have a rising third grader and prekindergartner. Hurray for camp! We made a point of being more on top of prices this year so our slush fund would be ready. Wish us luck with juggling this summer, especially during the parts of August with no camp.
Thank you for following us on our Fionist journey. Your support means the world to us. Make sure to look out for our next update in the months to come. 🙂
