Looking for a decadent new dessert recipe that is easy to make and will impress your friends? Not only is this recipe quick and easy, it only has five ingredients. It is also dairy-free, and can very easily be made gluten free (or kosher for Pesach). Serve with a dollop of whipped cream and some berries and you likely won’t have any left by the next day.
As this recipe is… uh…. not the healthiest, we don’t make it often, but is our go-to when we host friends with gluten sensitivities. Because the amount of flour required in this recipe is so small, you can replace it with just about anything – no special gluten-free flour blend or xanthan gum required. Since we’ve had two friends ask for the recipe within the past few weeks, we decided to share it with you too.
You’ll need:
4 eggs, beaten
about 3/4 cup oil
2 cups sugar
3/4 cup cocoa
1/2 cup flour or flour substitute*
* Feel free to use cornstarch, potato starch, almond flour, or any other gluten-free flour of choice. We generally use cornstarch or a mixture of cornstarch and potato starch. In our experience, potato starch tends to come out denser and thicker, while cornstarch makes it fudgier. The combination is just right. 🙂
Mix all of the ingredients together in a bowl. Add some chocolate (or other flavor) chips, ground nuts, or whatever other additions you’d like. Pour it into a cake pan. Bake at 175° C (or 375° F) for half an hour or until the brownies aren’t jiggly anymore when you move the pan.
Wait for the brownies to cool enough to not burn you. Dig in and enjoy!
