One year ago, on August 10, 2022, we launched this blog and posted our very first post. We put ourselves out there and had no idea what the future would bring. Would people read our blog? Find it interesting? Would we run out things to write about? It turns out that one year in, we’re stronger than ever.
Get ready for some fun stats from the last 365 days of Chasing the Fionist Dream!
- We published 52 posts.
- We got 33,485 views from 127 countries and territories (63% from Israel, 37% from rest of world).
- We received 157 comments.
- We have 51 email subscribers, 402 Facebook followers, and 96 X (formerly Twitter) followers.
- Our best day ever was November 30, 2022, with 667 views. We’ve gotten close a few times since, but not quite. This was in response to our step by step guide to using BuyMe post. Thank you to our friend who suggested we write it. You know who you are. ❤
- Our best ever post was Our Very Own Expense Tracker, with 2,605 views. We’re humbled that were able to help so many people track their expenses. 💸
- We’ve been featured on Apex Money, Rich Frugal Life, Daniel Rosehill’s YouTube Channel, and interviewed fellow Israeli (British) FI blogger Lazy FI Dad here on our own blog.
- Finn gave a personal finance lecture at his office. Immediately afterward, everyone ran to lower their bank and pension management fees and cancel their credit card fees.

In the past year, have we learned all about running a blog, social media marketing, and honed our writing skills. We learned what kinds of posts are popular and which less so, and got to meet many others on their journey to financial independence, both in person and online.
As a household of Eurovision afficionados, we can’t end this post without sharing the song we play on all of our own birthdays – Israel’s entry to the 1999 Eurovision, held in Jerusalem. Enjoy!
We can’t wait to see what’s in store for the Fionist Dream in our second year and we hope to see you there along with us. What kinds of posts do you want to see from us this year?
